Hello all,

well I took a short break from blogging. Now the kids are back at school we are getting back to our normal routine. I wanted to share some beautiful photos with you. which you can see my little annie dolls

Busy with The shop

these tags are new to the shop this week, all the letters of the alphabet so you can make what ever words you would like with them, and they are selling fast.

I have been super busy witht he new shop, and I have been really bad at blogging the last couple of weeks. so i thought I would share some photos of the shop and keep you up to date with what is going on.

here is my little christmas display the ornaments have been a great buy and have sold really well.

these beautiful ornaments tiny eiffel towers with a glass bead! they are just perfect for the chrismtas tree

also new to the shop is the number tags (Sums)

the above photo shows the beautiful counter my husband made from all recycled timber it's just perfect he did an amazing job. and it's a real feature in the shop. the shop has been fantastic and I am so happy with the way it has all come together

Over the christmas holiday break I am going to try and get some of my tags uploaded to the website so if you would like to see more photos of my tags just let me know, I have new tags at the shop today I just forgot to take photos of them all.

here is a sneak peek at the shop I still have a lot to do.

This is my 200th post wow! that has gone quickly.

I am about to open a new little shop well really it is a room at old petrie town with the lovely linda at lilly cottage, I have my own room and it is so sweet and little and just perfect for me and my daughter as she is doing this with me. back in 2007 I opened my first Shop Inn Country. But sadly due to illness it closed in 2009, I am so pleased to have a shop again! I have wanted this for a long time. thanks to the lovely linda for letting me have the back room at lilly cottage because without her I would not have been able to do this.

So if you love my doll or bears or love anything french pop in to visit me, I will be at the shop on

fridays for the twilight markets from 5.00pm to 9.00pm

and sundays from 8.00am till 2.00pm

this friday will be my first day.

I still have a lot of work to do, but I wanted to share the news with you all. I am going to have a giveaway for my 200th post I just have to work out what.

I have had a really busy day today, dying viscose and making a bag. I was so inspired by miss rose sister violet when I went to the craft show. I have been busy making and sewing and dying fabric and viscose and making a couple of cushions.

Well today I went to the craft show here in brisbane. the same time last year you would have found me there selling. but this year I just over committed myself to to many shows and something had to give. It's a lot of hard work.

So when I went today I headed straight for Miss rose sister violet, they have the most beautiful laces and flowers. Last year I stocked up and was about to run out. they hand dye all there laces and flowers and I got to sit in on a class today, I walked away so inspired to create and do beautiful things, So I hope it will come out in the next lot of bears I do for the last show this year!

I bought this at an antique store! for a bargin price

it is in really good condition and really large

the inside looks like it has never been used. I really love the colour of this hat box

this cute little bag which did have bowls in it but I only wanted the bag.
so I left them behind

Well today I had a really bad morning, so i thought I would take myself shopping and I also went to visit a friend. Here are my vintage finds I had such a better day than my morning. I have spent the last couple of weeks working on my studio, and 3rd time I think i have it done, still a small amount to do, I have also found so many things I thought I had lost. So it pays to clean. I have many plans this week to get things completed. I have also done some more studio photos and this time nothing will more and my son and husband are thankful for that they are sick of moving furniture in and out of the house! I feel this is going to be a large post today.

I hope you don't mind. I had such a bad week with headaches and a migraine! I hope this week will be a lot better and I hope I will get some more work done.

last wednesday I did another felting class to do the feet on my very large pink bear. I just have the right hand foot to finish. click on the photo to see the detail.

here you can see the feet they will look fantastic when she is finished the left has been done I still have to shade the botton of the foot and the right hand side I will try to needle felt this week. wow my list just keeps getting longer and longer of things to do.

here is my something lost last time I seen this little rocking horse was about 2 years ago I thought I must have thrown it out.

Brisbane Teddy Bear Fair

Here are two of the little guys I took to the Bear show.

the fair has been and we had a really good day, chating and having fun together. I thought I would share some photos with you all. My little french bunny found a New home! I shared a table with Julie again and it's lots of fun together. The show was very quiet and not a lot of people, but Julie and I still had a lovely day.

Still one more show to go this sunday! Then I can take a break. I really need to my body is telling me to. I am having a bad day today health wise I think it is all stress, and I have just picked up a cold! Just what I need right now.

I have been so busy working all weekend on moving around rooms, My oldest child has just moved out of home for the first time she is 19 now, so we spent the weekend moving her into her new place, many tears happened over the weekend, but she is happy and she is not far from us, so my two boys who have alway shared a room quickly decided they wanted there own rooms and I still have a room left.

So it has become my new work studio, I am still in a huge mess and I have far to much stuff! so I decided I need to have a clean out and sell all my craft stuff that I don't use.

It will take me till christmas to sell it all, I have lots and lots.

I thought I would share a couple of photos of the room at the moment I still have a lot to unpack.

I will have more photos to share as the week goes on and I clean up!

Today I have been super busy working on my bears and elephants finishing them off for the show next sunday, this little brown bear started off the day looking unloved and ugly! but now she is looking just beautiful old and well loved! she is not finished yet I have the finishing touches to do and sew on her ears.

she is wearing a vintage red cross pin badge I bought a couple of months ago. I will be working on little brown bears friend tomorrow a new annie doll I hope they look beautiful together as they will be sold together! Have a beautiful Evening Lisa

Today is the first day of spring here in Australia, I love spring! it is perfect weather for working on dolls and bears. well more bears than dolls!

at the moment when I am not doing any thing you will find a bear in my hand, I have been working on this pug dog for a while and has been sitting waiting to be finished, I purchased the pattern from noble fabric I hand dyed the viscose myself to get the colour I wanted her face has been painted with Jo Sonja paint she is wearing a vintage piece of lace, you will find her at the brisbane teddy bear show.

My giraffe gigi is all finished and will be hard to part with.

this is the little rabbit I am working on today, she has to be stitched up nose and eyes done and ears stitched on.

The elly in the photo below (Brown viscose) is one I was working on last night I love the pink colour, I hand dyed the seam binding ribbon around her neck and the flower on her head.

I am loving these little guys together. I think I have a bit of a circus theme happening for the Teddy bear show. It should be lots of fun.

Well the show is getting closer and closer So I am madly working on more bears ellies and new gigi's My baby giraffe. I hope you love her. I have had the most fun paint her spots or "markings" She is still missing her nose I hope to get to that this afternoon.

I have needle felted the cheeks and nose and mouth! it really was a lot of fun and looks amazing

So hopefully in the next week I will have the bear joined and stuffed I will post more photos as it comes together.

Yesterday I went to the gold coast with a couple of bear class ladys to do a Needle felting class on Needle felting on a bear. We had a beautiful day. We had to do a large bear and I don't do large bears and it took forever to get the bear done but I didn't get time to joint the bear but that was ok it was really easy to needle felt the head! The weather was cold in the morning but warmed up beautifully as the day went on! The day went so quickly, we did a little shopping before the trip back to brisbane!

First Doll for 2011 - Little Golly

Wow that is really bad this is the first new doll completed for 2011 and it's now July, that's really bad! I am happy with Little Golly, she is a lot smaller than normal and I have made her that way to sit with my bears, I have two show coming up in september so I have a lot of work to do, So i have already started!

I have been working on this little pug dog for about 3 or 4 weeks it has taken me so long because of the fact I had to paint his face and everytime I went to work on him I put it back down! But once I started with the paint on his face it was all ok and it worked so well I just have to do some touch up paint on the nose, finish his ears and stitch him up. I am so in love with this little guy.

I have used a pattern from Eileen Seifert

When she is all finished I will add photos.

it's about 3 weeks ago that I purchased Poppet from Whendis bears! I could not beleive my luck it was still there with a buy it now, like it was meant to be. So she arrived yesterday and let me tell you I am in love.

Wendy your work is just amazing and beautiful! I couple of weeks before that I purchased a beautiful vintage childs wardrobe from about 1930 that kathy karas had painted! I have just taken photos I am sure you will love it to.

Working on a new bunny

Meet Little Lapin which is the french word for bunny

I have been working on this little bunny for a couple of days now and he is coming together beautifully! I had an idea to do a bunny including something french. I love everything french My house have a french provincial feel to it, My daughter name is Paris! which I love, so you can see how I love anything french. Hopefully one day I will go to paris!

as you can see from the photo I have stamped her paw pads and inside ears with french stamps with fabric ink. I am so happy with how it turned out.

Good Morning,

Well it has been a while I have been so busy the last couple of months doing the sunday markets and also with my bears for the next show that starts next saturday! I still have so much to do, So I thought I would show you all a little look at the bears I have been working on. The above photo is one of the elly's I sold my other two a couple of weeks ago and they headed off to the US! My other little elly is not together yet.

I am in love with her little flower hat!

What's in a name!

It seems that the days seem to get shorter or I have to much work to do! I have two website's and 2 blogs and I can never catch up with orders and posting on my blogs and keeping the websites updated! the last post i did on my olive grove blog was easter time! where did all that time go. I have not made a doll for over 4 months and my dolls patterns well that's a joke they just sit on my desk and never get looked at, I have been working on some since before christmas! I love making dolls and now my new passion bears. Each wednesday I go to bear class, it's better than theropy.

there are a wonderful bunch of lady's who love to sew we talk and share morning tea and a lot of fun is had! I really treasure this time.

I think it is time to get serious about my work. Other wise I am going to get nothing done. I have wanted to combine my blogs and website for a long time but keep puting it off! First thing is a name everyone seems to have wonderful names! I get stuck on this one! I need help with this one.

that's how I came to the title of this post What's in a name. So please help me, I am open to names or do I just keep my Olive Grove Primitives name! but then that really does no go with My Inn Country work which is french Country style!

I have so many things on the go and don't seem to get any finished! My craft room is over run and over flowing with projects I think I have to much stuff or my craft studio is just to small.

this little ellie is made from viscose mohair, I still have to stitch her up and finish her bonnet. I still have to age her a little. I just wanted to share photos as I have fallen in love with the little elephant! I have used the same pattern as my other two elephants. This little girl is staying with me I made her for myself. When I did the doll and bear show a couple of weeks ago I bought some vintage doll bonnets with the hope of doing this little guy.

I have also just finished my first coat of paper clay on my Izannah walker doll now I just need to let it dry and I will be back to work on her. I am off to do the first coat of paper clay on the little one. will post again in a couple of days.

I have been working on 3 little ellephants for the show. this is the one I am finishing off today!

I love her dress. I also love her colour I hand dyed the mohair in parisian and vanilla!

I have been stuck in such a Raggedy Anne rut! I have been wanting to work on some dolls using paper clay but I just keep hesitating so I have promised myself after the show I will sit down and work on something completely new!

My new purchase

Last week I purchased this little childrens kitchen hutch, it had a bit of damage to the bottom which my husband was able to fix and we found some old queen anne legs I am yet to remove the old paint and sand before painting again. It is devine and will look fantastic to display my dolls and bears. I will post more photos when I start work on it.

Well its been a while since I completed a doll, I have been busy working on some new patterns and also some bears, this bear I have been working on the finishing touches and I am so happy with the way she is changing. I have a couple of show that I will be doing this year so I will be working extra hard this year.

Well the kids returned to school after summer christmas holidays this week, so I now have no excuse not to work so I have been working hard on a couple of new cloth doll designs depending on how hard I work to when I will have some photos hopefully this week. January is almost over. The rain has stopped and we have some wonderful weather! we still have some roads and bridges closed but things are returning to normal.

You can see the park here but yesterday all under water check out yesterdays photos

all this was under water yesterday! now there is just a lot of damage left behind trees downs and roads badly damaged.

they have already started cleaning up and cutting down trees and fixing the power poles

Woke up today to no rain and the sun is shinning! And really hot.I went back to the same spot as yesterday and would you beleive all the water is gone. We are safe here and will not flood but we could not beleive the amount of water not to far from us. Both roads are still closed as there is a lot of damage and will take a while to fix I thought I would share some photos that I took today! thank you for all your wonderful comments but the worst has not hit the city yet and my husband will be working from home till Monday! happy happy I love having him around!

Flooding to close to home now

there are bridges somewhere ahead

this is another road I normally use every day which is under a lot of water! I have lived here for 7 years and it has never gone under before! I love the rain but I really wish it would stop now!

under this water is a park that the kids often went to and when we bike ride we also ride through the park!

Wow Queensland Australia has been flooding and now it's geting a little close to home! these are a couple of photos taken this afternoon 2 streets from my house. And they say it is only going to get worse! My husband will be working from home for the next couple of days he normally works in the city but we are cut off at the moment so it will be nice to see him for a couple of days. there are so many people that have been devestated by the floods My heart goes out to them all! For all those people who have lost everything including loved ones.

these guys are the only thing I worked on over the christmas break

Well it has been lovely to have some time of from working on my dolls but I thought today I should start work again for the new year. Christmas was wonderful but went to quick. I feel like we have not had a summer yet as it has rained most of summer here in Queensland Australia the state that I live in seems to be flooding everywhere. We only have 6 weeks of summer left I hope it will stop raining soon! The kids go back to school in about 2 weeks for the start of 2011, My husband went back to work last week, so life is returning to normal and that means back to work for me to! So this year I have been spring cleaning the studio before I get stuck into things I have another show coming up in march and I am sure that will go quickly.

Update on my little Elephant

Well today I added some crackle medium, as it is the first time I have used it. It was a little tid and miss some parts have crackle! I have also aged him, I am so happy with the way he has turned out! So I will be adding some to the website next year! His head is made from paper clay the block is wooden and handmade by me using scrap booking paper aged and sanded he has been finished off with a ribbon. He will be for sale sometime this week on my website! so check back if you are interested.

Busy weekend crafting

So this is what I have been up to on the weekend! Saturday making lots of little snowmen for the Christmas tree I also made some gingerbread men for the kids to eat, I have never made gingerbread men before they where just beautiful! and yummy to!

So after breakfast this morning I started to work on the snowmen and this is the first one of 10 I have finished and I love it so much I had to share with you all! this is the first time I have worked with clay since being in school! I am addicted to it already.

in the above photo are the little snowmen waiting to be dressed sitting on my vintage sheet music book and on the left are some beautiful handmade hearts made by my beautiful daughter made from wire finished with pearl beads! and also some of my roses from the garden that the kids bought me for mothers day!

Yesterday I went hunted in second hand book shops looking for some sheet music for another Christmas craft I am working on and look what I found! I am going to have problems using this one I think!

Playing with Clay

As we all know it is getting closer to christmas and each year we have a tradition to handmade our decorations. This years we are making snowmen from clay! We had lots of fun today with them they are not finished they need to be painted and glittered. I just wanted to show you what we did. Mine are the two on the left and my wonderful 10 year old made the ones on the right he did an amazing job! I wanted to use the paperclay but as I live in australia I have not been able to find it so I just used a white air drying clay. Hopefully by the end of the week we should have them finsihed! We need to let them dry for 48 hours. Have a beautiful saturday Lisa

Welll the craft and quilt fair has finished! What an amazing week I have had I met so many wonderful ladies and got to meet some fellow bloggers. I received so many wonderful comments about my little stand I wanted to share some photos with you all

This is Molly Olive Annie she came to the show with me without a pattern or kit and she was the most popular one there and also sold! I will have some kits and pattern ready this week, so if you where after one pop ove the my website latter this week.

I also sold out of my cotton bobbins and vintage dress form I should have more in the coming weeks and a dress form will be on the website this week.

I had a lot of ladies ask for some kits so this week I will be working on some new kits for the website and I will also be updating the website this week with some new stock grubby tags, calico and I am waiting on some new doll hair I will let you all know when it arrives.

thats all for today unless I think of something else, I am off to work on all those orders I have.

Sisters Olive Annies & An Annie Swap

This is the doll I sent to Grace along with a prim victorian shoe a handpainted hag tag and some wax melts.

These little ones I finished a while back I named they popcorn annies but I didn't like the name of them they needed work. I have changed there noses I needle felted them which I really like I love to needle felt the nose I also gave them some new bow's and they really looked like sisters sitting on the little while chair!
So I think I am really happy with them now and they will be the last Olive Annies before the show

The second and third dolls are from a Raggedy anne swap the second photo is the doll I made for Little Crafty Crow you can check out her blog here. She is a wonderful artist and Love her dolls and paintings. thanks Grace I love her so much

I set up on tuesday. I spent today doing up the kits I did 18 and it took me all day to cut out all the fabric and hair! So far I have about 40 dolls for the show! I just hope I have enough stuff. I have doll hair, rusty bells and pins calico which I have dyed, hand painted tags lots of fabric to sell wax melts, linen spray for the dolls to make them smell yummy!

OK another updated photo this one is with the bow and I have changed the colour of the mouth it's a little hard to see at this time of night but it looks much better. the colour matches the dress more.

Hello all,

Well as you all know I have a show coming up, only 14 days to go and I am still working hard, I took a day off from all the work yesterday to recharge and I did some painting. I really love to paint but never get enough time. Some little Annie tags to go with my dolls I am not sure how much they look like my dolls! But I am really happy with them. they will be at the show for sale. I also have a new look to my website the wonderful Amy from Amy Bug has been working on a new template for my website and it look amazing another wonderful Job Amy! Pop over and take a look.

Well I need to get back to work today I am working on some kits today for my dolls, I have had to update some photos for my patterns I will also have a couple of new patterns ready for release before the show, I am just putting the finishing touches to them this week. the website will also be updated at some stage this week with lots of new dolls and some of those annie tags, and other supplies for making those Olive Annie Dolls.

Ok everyone I need your help on this Annie, I am not sure about it. Have I used to much pink! it's getting late for working on my dolls and I think I am tired I chose the name when I was working on the needle felting nose it just looked like cotton candy! Please help! All you dolls makers out there would know sometimes dolls just come together and then there are dolls they just don't work at all!

A Beautiful Painting

Good Morning,

I have been working with Kathy on this beautiful painting for a little while. (Well she did all the work and I just emailed a photo) I asked her to do a series of paintings of my dolls to turn into gift cards! This is the first one. I was going to keep it a surprise till they where all done. But I am really bad at that and I love this painting so much. I also have a new header well I have added to doll and taken away the crow! the wonderful Amy did it for me, I love it, it fits a lot better with what I do. Some exciting News and some new Annies

This is Button Annie made from a stars & Stripes pattern.

Well I have a wonderful opportunity to be at the Craft and quilt show here in Brisbane to have a stall! Wow!

I am very excited and very nervous at the same time.

I will have to work my fingers to the bone to get everything ready in time.

I have been working from morning till night for the last week and I only have 6 weeks to go.

It's here in Brisbane on the 20th -24th October at the convention centre. It's a huge craft show.

I am hoping to get out there and grow my business! I thought about going back to full time work now that my son has returned to full time school but that's not what I really want so I thought I would continue on with Olive grove Primitives and try and grow my business.

I opened my very own business a couple of years back and I had a shop to but closed it 12 months after opening it to home school and care for my son full time. we found out last May he has aspergers syndrome and was not coping for normal school so with a lot of help from his doctor (weekly visits) we also found a wonderful school who has a program for kids with autism/Aspergers he has returned to full time school in the last couple of weeks before that he only went part time! He is doing wonderfully!

I will be making kits up for my Annie's and had to get some new fabric for the kit as i could not get the original fabric I used! But I am happy with this to.

So now I have the time to work on my business and with the support of my wonderful family and husband I have 6 weeks of hard work in front of me to get everything done!

My Birthday present arrived about 5 minutes ago in the mail. I request from all my family to put in and buy some beautiful whendis bears!!! Wow they are to die for I am in love. wendy is just such an amazing artist!

Spring Cleaning

Well here in Australia we are in our last couple of weeks of winter I can't wait for spring, I love Spring, so for the last couple of weeks I have been spring cleaning I know I am early. I have started on my studio, I have so much stuff!!!!!! I am running out of room.

So I am going to finish working on dolls that are half finished, would you beleive I found a box of stuff half finished So today I am going to make a start on them and this is what I finished up this morning "Annies" this is a threadbare primitive pattern! I love these patterns so much. I will be listing new items on my website all this week.

My studio is looking so much better next I think I will have to start on my bedroom.

here are my 3 boys my two kids and my husband my daughter stayed at home as she had to work! Hopefully next time she will join us.

Well i have had a really busy week, we took a road trip and went down to Sydney & Nowra to visit family we had so much fun while we where away we went to taronga Zoo the kids loved that, when we arrived home I spent the week cleaning and rearranging the house to give it a fresh look I love to change things around to keep the house looking fresh! I will leave you with photo's of the Zoo.
